Changing your colors
Your footprint-wide base colors define the base palette the AI designer can work with.
To change you base colors, go to settings > about > logo, colors and graphics > colors.
How the AI uses your base colors
Like a real designer, the AI creates derivative color schemes from your brand's base colors. It does so, using common color theory, contrast optimization techniques and rules, as used by human design professionals. How exactly the final colors used in your footprint are derived from your base colors, is dependent on the color neural net in the design section.
For example, let's say you have chosen reds for your base colors. If the AI has been told to use pastel colors, it will derive shades of pink and grey, suiting your brand. If the AI has been told to use complementary colors, it will "invent" (like a real designer) a corresponding cyan/teal color, suiting your brand. If the AI has been told to use masculine colors, the AI may pair the red with broodier, darker tones, suiting your brand. And so on and so forth.
The colors listed under settings > about > logo, colors and graphics > colors will be evaluated by the AI in order of appearance, where the first/top color defines the background color and the subsequent colors define possible(!) primary, secondary and tertiary contrasting colors.
The AI will attempt to derive colors in the following order;
- A background color
- A primary color
- A secondary color
- A tertiary color
To change the order of possible colors in your palette, simply drag and drop.
To add a new base color for the AI to use, click the add new base color button.
To change a color, click the color hexadecimal value field. You can type a new RGB color hexadecimal code, or use the color swatch to pick a new color.
To have the AI analyze your logo for usable colors, click the use current logo's colors for design button.
Why is the AI ignoring my colors?
The AI will always ensure your footprint complies with contrast rules according to WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 guidelines.
If colors do not provide enough contrast with the background color, these colors may be altered (darkened or lightened) or altogether ignored by the AI in order to comply. For example, yellow on white does not tend do show enough contrast under these guidelines, nor does pink on white. To check if a color has enough contrast with your background color, you can use a WCAG contrast checking tool.
If you find that the AI is ignoring your colors as a result of you uploading your logo, you should specify new better contrasting colors, and/or consider getting your logo re-designed by a professional designer to provide better contrast in all situations.
